Sports and Outdoors

Let’s go out and play!

For those who love nature and the great outdoors,

is the place to be.

Decades of careful preservation have earned Fayette County its reputation as one of south metro Atlanta’s most nature-friendly communities, and with our mild temperatures, we are outside year-round.

Residents enjoy more than 50+ parks and 100+ miles of paved pathways for hiking and biking. Boating and fishing enthusiasts can relax or go wrestle their next big catch on Lake Horton, Lake Kedron, Lake Macintosh and Lake Peachtree.  If you prefer to swing at the ball, we have four championship golf courses and a nationally recognized tennis center. Other popular local activities include cycling, rowing and geocaching.

Also, did we mention that we like to run?

Fayette County is home to a very active community of triathletes and marathon runners. Peachtree City has earned the official designation as a “Runner Friendly Community” by the Road Runners Club of America. In fact, Peachtree City is one of the 10 cities across the country to host the Divas Half-Marathon and 5K series. Women come from across the country and overseas to run in pink tutus, wear tiaras, and show their true “diva-ness.”

Even the kids get into the action-

with most schools now have running clubs where kids run before school starts each morning.

Below is a small example of a few of our running clubs and races:

One of the most popular and quickly growing activities is Geocaching. This high-tech treasure hunting game is fun for all ages, whether you are 8 or 80. Take the Peachtree City GeoTour and quickly discover how much fun life can be at 15 mph.

With 100+ multi-use paths, not only do we like to run, we also like to cycle.  Along with multi-use paths that are great for biking, many of Fayette County roads are bike-friendly.

So, put your phone down and come play with us.
